Laura Wallace
Laura Wallace’s favorite medium is batik and she also paints in acrylic and watercolor and enjoys drawing. She grew up primarily in the foothills of Pikes Peak, where in high school she took drawing lessons from an artist neighbor and discovered the joy of line variation. Her high school art teacher taught the basics of batik, and ever since then Laura has worked in this medium. She likes to say that with batik you won’t know what you have until the last step!
Along the way Laura worked in the software industry. Now that she’s retired she has more time for art making. Laura’s work has hung in various juried shows including exhibits at Gallery Twist, the Concord Art Association, and the Art Gallery at Grace Chapel. One of Laura’s batiks was selected for inclusion in the Concord Art Association Annual Roddy Open Competition, and a different one was featured in the Association’s annual calendar.
